March & April Fishing Report of Charlotte Harbor/Boca Grande

Spring Fishing in Charlotte Harbor & Boca Grande (March–April Report)
Spring fishing in Charlotte Harbor and Boca Grande is officially on fire.
As we move through March and April, water temperatures have warmed up, bait has flooded back into the harbor, and the fish are exactly where you want them: active, aggressive, and feeding hard.
If you’ve been thinking about getting on the water, this is one of the best windows of the year to do it.
Spring Conditions: Bait Is Back, Fish Are Fired Up
One of the biggest changes this time of year is the return of live bait. Pilchards, threadfins, and other forage are showing up strong throughout the harbor, and that’s flipping the switch for everything else.
With warmer water and consistent bait presence:
This is what makes March and April fishing in Charlotte Harbor so consistent.
Where the Fish Are Holding
Right now, fish are set up in all the right spring patterns.
We’re finding them:
These areas are key this time of year because they concentrate bait, and where the bait is, the fish aren’t far behind.
What We’re Catching Right Now
The spring bite has been steady across multiple species, making it a great time for anglers of all skill levels.
Snook
Snook fishing has really picked up with the warmer water. Fish are pushing out and staging along mangroves, points, and current edges.
Live bait around structure and moving water has been producing best.
Redfish
Redfish have been consistent and are being found around structure and mangrove shorelines.
With the amount of bait around, they’ve been feeding aggressively and are a solid target most trips.
Spotted Seatrout
We’re catching plenty of trout on the grass flats, including some quality fish mixed in.
Great option for steady action and keeping rods bent.
Jacks
Jacks have been fired up and aggressive, perfect for anglers who want non-stop action.
Tarpon (Early Season Push)
The first tarpon have started showing up with the warmer water and increased bait activity.
This is the beginning of the Boca Grande tarpon run, and while the peak is still building, we’re already seeing fish move through the area.
What to Expect on a Trip
A typical day on the water with Tight Line Chronicles is built around conditions, not a script.
We start by finding active bait and working areas where fish are feeding most consistently that day. Depending on the conditions, that might mean grass flats, mangrove shorelines, structure, or channel edges.
